A psychologist is a professional who practices psychology and has studied normal and abnormal mental states, perceptual, cognitive, emotional, and social processes, and behavior by observing, interpreting, and recording how individuals relate to one another and to their environments. Psychologists engage in “talk therapy,” stress management, and psychological assessments.
Cheryl Gotthelf, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist with a full-time private practice in Hollywood, Florida, specializing in issues related to health psychology and a variety of assessments. She holds certification in biofeedback and uses this modality to teach patients relaxation skills in order to decrease blood pressure, reduce migraine headaches, and increase feelings of self- efficacy. In addition, Dr.Gotthelf has extensive experience in stress management. Dr. Gotthelf provides services to patients and their families for a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, and compliance issues. During the past 30 years she has treated more than a thousand patients with interventions to management a multitude of emotional issues. In addition, Dr. Gotthelf has provided continuing education to physicians. She has been a part-time faculty at Nova Southeastern University, where she has actively supervised doctoral candidates in psychology, and taught Behavioral Science courses in the School of Dental Medicine as well the Center for Psychological Services. For many years Dr. Gotthelf served as the editor of Psychological Hypnosis, a bulletin for those interested and practicing medical hypnosis. She has appeared on several television news shows as an expert in psychology.
